# How the NASH online assessment works

This is the Markdown copy of [How the NASH online assessment works](https://nash.com.ph/nash-online-assessment), published by NASH Reviewer, an independent practice platform not affiliated with DepEd, BHROD, or NEAP.

*How the NASH is taken*

DepEd gives the NASH online, at designated assessment sites, on your own laptop. This guide walks through the process DepEd used for FY 2025 Batch 2: the online application, the Safe Exam Browser and the DepEd LMS, the assessment day, and your results.

- **3 hours**: Assessment time in FY 2025 Batch 2
- **15**: Takers in a standard assessment room
- **PHP 720**: Batch 2 assessment fee
- **65**: Assessment sites nationwide in Batch 2

## Apply through the NASH-OAS

You apply online, through DepEd’s NASH Online Application System at nash.deped.gov.ph. Your division evaluates your documents, then your region validates them.

1. **Activate your DepEd email**: You register and sign in with your own official DepEd account, preferably Google. If it is inactive, ask your Schools Division Office (SDO) IT officer to activate it.
2. **Create your NASH-OAS account**: Go to nash.deped.gov.ph and fill in your name, birth date, contact numbers, past attempts at the Principal’s Test, NQESH, or NASH, and your position and office. Check every detail: it carries over to the DepEd LMS and your results, and cannot be changed later.
3. **Scan your documents**: Save each document as a separate, clear PDF at 300 DPI or more, under 10 MB, with a plain filename. A phone scanning app works.
4. **Apply and submit**: Choose the correct region and division, upload the documents, and submit. Wait at least five minutes for the confirmation email before you try again.

### The documents you upload

- **IPCRF with Very Satisfactory or higher**: The approved IPCRF for the last two consecutive rating periods, certified by the SDO. Part I, with the rating, is enough.
- **Service Record**: Certified by the SDO’s Administrative Officer V.
- **Certification of relevant experience**: Signed by the Schools Division Superintendent or your school head: learning area coordination, subject area supervision, school management and operations, or instructional supervision.
- **Transcript of Records or diploma**: Showing a relevant master’s degree, or a certification of completion if CHED’s Special Order is still pending.
- **Training certificates**: Curriculum, pedagogy, school management and operations, or instructional leadership, within the last 5 years. Signed LAC and INSET certificates count.
- **PRC license or certificate of eligibility**: Valid and updated.
- **If it applies to you**: A Certificate of Employment for private-school teaching. For Teachers-in-Charge, Officers-in-Charge, and Head Teachers acting as school heads: the OPCRF and the designation or special order signed by the Schools Division Superintendent.

### What each status means

- **For SDO Review**: The SDO evaluator is checking your documents. Watch your email. Do nothing unless the SDO contacts you.
- **For RO Validation**: The Regional Office validator is checking the SDO’s endorsement. Prepare your original documents and photos.
- **For Verification and Payment**: Your application passed both checks. Go to your SDO with your originals, two passport photos, and the fee.
- **Assessment Permit Issued**: You are paid and on the list of takers. Keep the signed permit. It is your proof of payment and verification on both assessment days.
- **Re-apply**: A document is missing, invalid, or wrong, or you chose the wrong region or division. Fix what the remarks say, and submit again through the NASH-OAS.
- **Disapproved**: You do not meet the conditions set by the memorandum. Read the reason, and prepare for the next administration.

Submitting false documents is Serious Dishonesty under CSC Resolution No. 2100079, punishable by dismissal and perpetual disqualification. See the [qualification standards](https://nash.com.ph/nash#qualifications) before you apply.

## Get your assessment permit

When your status turns to For Verification and Payment, go to your Schools Division Office. The signed permit proves your payment and verification on both assessment days.

1. Show your original documents to the SDO evaluator, who compares them with your uploads and returns them.
2. Hand over two passport-size photos with name tags, taken within the last six months, for your permit.
3. Sign the printed permit, then pay the assessment fee at the SDO cashier, who signs it as your acknowledgment receipt.
4. Return the upper portion of the permit to the evaluator. Your status then becomes Assessment Permit Issued.

For Batch 2 the fee was PHP 720: PHP 10 for the Legal Research Fund, and PHP 710 for the administration, including takers’ lunch on the mock and actual days.

## Prepare your laptop and accounts

You bring your own laptop and internet device. The assessment opens only in the Safe Exam Browser, a locked-down browser that blocks every other application.

### DepEd’s minimum laptop

- **Operating system**: Windows 10 (version 20H2 or later) or Windows 11, or macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later
- **Processor**: Dual-core, such as Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3
- **Memory**: At least 4 GB
- **Storage**: At least 500 MB free
- **Display**: 1024 × 768 or higher
- **Internet**: Stable, at least 5 Mbps upload and download

### Your DepEd LMS account

1. Sign in to lms.deped.gov.ph, choose your region and division, and log in with your DepEd Google account.
2. Update your profile and add a photo taken within the last six months. Name corrections go through your division IT officer.
3. Make sure the region on the LMS login page matches the region where you are enrolled.

Log in with your DepEd Google account if you can. The Microsoft option sends a verification code to your phone; you may use the phone only to read the code, then return it to the table.

### Installing the Safe Exam Browser

- **DepEd-issued laptop**: Search for Company Portal in the Windows search bar, open it, find the Safe Exam Browser, and click Install.
- **Personal Windows laptop**: Download the installer from the link in DepEd’s guide, open it from your Downloads folder, agree to the license terms, and click Install.
- **MacBook**: Download the macOS version from safeexambrowser.org, open the .dmg file, and drag the Safe Exam Browser into your Applications folder.

Installing the browser is not enough. The NASH settings file, which points it to the right region on the DepEd LMS, comes from your technical officer. Set it up during the mock, so it is ready for the actual day.

## The mock assessment

Each batch has a mock assessment before the actual one, with the same procedures, browser settings, and login. Treat it as your rehearsal.

- **The Safe Exam Browser was not installed or set up**: Install it at home, and get the settings file from your technical officer at the mock.
- **LMS enrollment did not match the taker’s email**: Log in to the LMS early, and report any name or email error to your division IT officer before the actual day.
- **The LMS slowed under load**: DepEd’s technical team set out to fix performance and add server capacity before the actual assessment. Keep your own connection steady.

The Batch 2 mock was a familiarization quiz on NASH procedures, the LMS, the PPSSH, and the Expanded Career Progression System. Its purpose was to test devices and practice the steps.

## Assessment day, hour by hour

This was the FY 2025 Batch 2 schedule. Every taker in the country started and ended at the same time.

- **6:00 to 7:00 a.m.**: Arrive, register, and set up your laptop, charger, internet device, and fan at your assigned seat. Bags go to the front of the room.
- **7:30 to 8:00 a.m.**: The Assessment Facilitator checks your identity against the list, records attendance, and checks that your device is ready. Finish personal necessities before 8:00.
- **8:00 to 8:30 a.m.**: The facilitator reads the rules and reminders aloud.
- **8:30 to 9:00 a.m.**: The facilitator types the Safe Exam Browser password on your laptop. You log in to the NASH page, open the test link, and wait.
- **9:00 a.m.**: At the bell, everyone clicks Attempt quiz at the same time, using the quiz password the facilitator announces.
- **9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon**: You answer. The facilitator reminds the room 10 minutes and 5 minutes before the end.
- **12:00 noon**: At the bell, click Finish attempt, then Submit all and finish. Fill in the evaluation form, log out, close the browser, shut down, and wait for dismissal.

## Rules in the room

The facilitator reads these rules before the assessment starts. They protect the integrity of every taker’s result.

### Allowed on your desk

- Laptop and charger
- Pocket Wi-Fi or modem router
- Snacks
- A hand fan or handheld electric fan

### During the three hours

- A phone used as a hotspot stays on the designated table in silent mode. Every other phone, smartwatch, and device stays switched off in your bag.
- Only the DepEd LMS may run on your laptop.
- One taker at a time may leave for personal necessities, without a phone or paper, and the time counts. Your screen is covered while you are out.
- Do not talk to other takers. Raise your hand for help; questions about the items are not answered.
- No one leaves the room until dismissal, even after finishing.
- Anyone caught cheating is disqualified, sent out, and dealt with under DepEd’s rules on administrative cases (DepEd Order No. 49, s. 2006).

**Practice on the laptop you will bring**

Timed situational sets on the same laptop build the pace and the habits you need for three hours in a locked-down browser. [Try a free practice set](https://nash.com.ph/sign-up).

## If something goes wrong

Tell your facilitator first. Technical problems go to the technical officer in your room, then up the line if needed.

### If your connection drops

1. Stay calm. Your answered items are saved.
2. Close the Safe Exam Browser and open it again.
3. Raise your hand. The facilitator re-enters the password and records it.
4. Log in, then choose Continue quiz.

### Technical officer

*In the room*

Installing or launching the Safe Exam Browser, slow connections, and trouble reaching the LMS.

### Technical supervisor

*At the site*

Login credentials that do not work, and the browser password.

### DepEd ICTS, BHROD, and the LMS team

*Central Office*

Platform-wide failures, whole-day interruptions, sign-in security resets, and anything that affects the integrity of the assessment.

## After the assessment

Results take weeks. They come by memorandum, and your own certificate and report come through the DepEd LMS and your DepEd email.

1. **The results memorandum**: DepEd releases official results by memorandum: how many takers reached each competency level, and the Regional Top Performers.
2. **Your certificate in the LMS**: Sign in to the DepEd LMS with the account you used, update your position in your profile, open the NASH course, and download your Individual Certificate of Rating.
3. **Your development report**: Your Individual Development Report arrives at your DepEd email. It names your strengths, your areas for improvement, and recommended interventions.

See what each competency level means and how to read your certificate in the [FY 2025 NASH results](https://nash.com.ph/nash-results).

## Your readiness checklist

Start before the next memorandum. Most problems in the Batch 2 mock came from accounts and laptops that were not ready.

### When the memorandum comes out

- Read who may take it and check yourself against the qualification standards.
- Activate your DepEd Google account and note your password.
- Scan your documents as separate PDFs under 10 MB.

### Before the mock

- Check your laptop against DepEd’s minimum specifications.
- Install the Safe Exam Browser and update Windows or macOS.
- Log in to the DepEd LMS and update your profile and photo.
- Test your pocket Wi-Fi or hotspot for a steady connection.

### The night before

- Charge the laptop, phone, and pocket Wi-Fi fully.
- Pack your assessment permit, an ID, the charger, snacks, and a fan.
- Plan to arrive by 6:00 a.m., or travel the day before if the site is far.

## Common questions

Short answers drawn from the issuances. Your division office has the final word on your case.

### Can I take the NASH on a tablet or phone?

No. DepEd’s NASH LMS User Guide requires a laptop computer running Windows 10 or 11, or macOS 10.15 or later, because the assessment opens only in the Safe Exam Browser. A phone may serve only as your internet hotspot, kept on the designated table.

### Do I bring my own internet connection?

Yes. In FY 2025 Batch 2, takers set up their own laptop and internet device at their seats: pocket Wi-Fi, a modem, or a phone used as a mobile hotspot. Sites were also chosen for their connectivity, but plan on your own connection.

### What happens if my internet disconnects during the NASH?

Your answers are saved as you go. Close and reopen the Safe Exam Browser, call the Assessment Facilitator to re-enter the password, log in again, and choose to continue the quiz. Your timer runs from the moment you start until you submit.

### Can I get extra time?

No. Late arrivals keep the same end time, and time spent on personal necessities counts against the three hours. The assessment submits itself when time runs out.

### Can I use a MacBook?

Yes, if it runs macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later. Download the Safe Exam Browser for macOS from safeexambrowser.org, and get the NASH settings file from the technical officer.

### Where do I get my NASH certificate?

In the DepEd LMS. After DepEd releases the results by memorandum, you sign in with the account you used for the assessment and download your Individual Certificate of Rating. Your Individual Development Report arrives at your DepEd email.

*Ready the laptop, then the judgment*

## Practice the decisions the NASH asks about

The procedures are the easy part. Timed practice sets score your choices by PPSSH domain and strand, so you know what to study before the next administration.

**What you practice with**

- Timed situational items, two minutes each
- Every item tagged to a PPSSH domain, strand, and indicator
- Results by domain, with the strands to study next
- Practice on the laptop you will bring on the day

- **Free**: 34 practice sets
- **30-day pass**: ₱1,000 for 30 days
- **Lifetime**: ₱3,000 once

Practice scores are study aids, not official NASH ratings.
